What Is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift is a procedure that aims to get rid of the wrinkles and sagging skin on the face, much like the traditional facelift would. However, this method is much less invasive and requires smaller incisions. It is the ideal option for many patients.
Mini Facelift vs. Traditional Facelift
You will need to consult with Dr. Lopes before making the decision to get a facelift. Dr. Lopes will ask about your complete medical history, smoking or drinking habits, past surgeries, and whether you are on any special medication or supplements.
The surgical process for a mini-facelift procedure is similar to that of a traditional facelift. During the surgery, you will be given anesthesia. First, Dr. Lopes will create small incisions below the ear or at the hairline. She will then adjust the tissues in order to uplift the face. Once done, she will close the incisions with sutures.
After the operation, the patient isn’t typically asked to stay in the hospital overnight. After the surgery, the patient will have to follow post-surgical care instructions provided by the staff or Dr. Lopes. The patient will need to follow up after a week to have the sutures removed.
A mini facelift is also called a weekend facelift, because its recovery process is quicker and less painful than the traditional facelift. The healing process depends on the patient’s daily habits, medication, and the type of anesthesia used during surgery.
Recovery from a mini facelift can take about two to three days, while healing from a standard facelift can take about four to five days.
Because it is less invasive, the mini facelift causes less pain and discomfort after surgery. While the patient may still feel slight discomfort and sensitivity, the overall symptoms are milder than those of a traditional facelift.
A mini facelift is ideal for patients who are healthy, young, have minimal sagging skin, and have normal skin elasticity. The results achieved are less pronounced than those obtained by the traditional facelift.
A mini facelift is not idea for patients who have a lot of excess skin sagging, deep wrinkles, or excess fat. If a patient takes proper care of their skin, the effects of a mini facelift can last for two to six years.
