According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 2014 was another solid year for cosmetic surgery in general. But in an industry that has seen growth for the fifth year in a row after climbing out of the recession, non-invasive procedures such as Botox Cosmetic are king of the castle.

Nearly 14 million non-invasive cosmetic procedures have been performed over the last year. The most popular of the group are botulinum toxin injections like Dysport and Botox Cosmetic, as well as soft-tissue fillers and chemical peels.

Botulinum toxin is a naturally occurring substance that is used primarily for facial injections. The most common product utilizing this nerve impulse blocker is Botox Cosmetic.

The popularity of Botox and similar products has been well documented over the years. Since 2000, use of botulinum toxin type A has risen 748%. In 2014, there were 6.6 million injections, which is an increase of 6% from the previous year.
